The Swabian caravan manufacturer THECUBER has configured a customised wax cabin for the Nordic Paraski Team. This is a huge gain for the national team. \u2018The trailer makes us better,\u2019 says German chief technician Christian Winker.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Wax. It can convey lightness, the feeling of gliding through the trail. Or, on the contrary, it can give the impression of not making any progress, of failing due to the resistance of the snow, despite all your arm and pole efforts. Selection and dosage are often a game of poker because the conditions – the weather and the firmness of the surface – can change quickly. Preparing the cross-country skis perfectly and miscalculating is crucial for victory or defeat in a competition. Waxing is a science in itself.<\/p>\n

Especially in the cross-country sprint, when the waxers have to prepare many skis in quick succession, cool heads and skilful hands are required to work quickly and precisely at the same time. For these situations, the Nordic Para Ski team has received a trailer from THECUBER. The company from Engstingen in the Swabian Alb specialises in modular caravans. The contact came about through the family of Linn Kazmaier (the Paralympics winner and multiple Para World Champion comes from Oberlenningen). “Representing inclusion and integration in society is very important to us. The Nordic Paraski Team does important work. We wanted to support that,” says Nico K\u00f6nig, who founded the tinkerer’s workshop with his brother Nino and feels connected to winter sports by virtue of his background. \u2018On the Alb,\u2019 he says, \u2018that’s part of it.\u2019<\/p>\n

Controlled atmosphere in the trailer<\/strong><\/p>\n

An initial meeting with national coach Ralf Rombach took place in the summer of 2023. Things moved quickly after that. The team’s technicians and the THECUBER team discussed the special requirements for the
trailer. It is based on the manufacturer’s ADVENTURE Tandem, a caravan for up to five people. \u2018Adapting it to the requirements was both a challenge and an incentive for us,\u2019 emphasises Nico K\u00f6nig.<\/p>\n

These needs included the lighting situation, ventilation, power sources, access and special fixing rails for the skis. And the THECUBER team did a great job. “The trailer immediately served us well. The cooperation was absolutely positive,” says Ralf Rombach. The vehicle is not only a comfortable mobile waxing cabin, but was also used in the preparation phase. The technicians used it during test tours for skis and waxes in Davos and Norway, and the team used the trailer as a means of transport during bike training courses in the Alps in the summer.<\/p>\n

In February and March 2025, the national team toured Central Europe with their CUBER – in Val di Fiemme at the Paralympics test event and at the World Championship venues in Pokljuka and Toblach. Not having to rely solely on the guard containers provided by the organisers proved to be a great advantage. “We were a very large team and therefore had a lot to do. In our CUBER, we were able to concentrate fully on the competition skis,” reports Christian Winker, who finds the controlled, constant atmosphere in the trailer very valuable. “The setup is great. We can work calmly and efficiently, especially when things threaten to get stressful.”<\/p>\n

Having skis that are precisely tuned and prepared for the conditions during the race helps the athletes to play to their fitness and technical strengths. The THECUBER trailer has thus become a building block for success.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
